Kanini Kega Shows Off Son’s Excellent KCPE Performance

  • Kieni MP Kanini Kega showed his son’s excellent performance on Thursday, April 15, after the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), were released by Education CS George Magoha.

    Taking to his social media pages, a proud Kega congratulated his son, Mathenge Imani Gachuiri, for managing 408 marks.

    “Congratulations my son you have made us extremely proud,” he stated before adding, Ngima yumaga mùtuini, a Kikuyu version of the proverb, the apple does not fall far from the tree.

    In each of the subjects, the Juja Preparatory student scored the following; English 84 (A)  Kiswahili 85 (A), Mathematics 79 (A-) Science 79 (A-) Social studies/CRE 81 (A).

    Kega’s son was among the 1,179,182 candidates who sat the KCPE exam between March 22 and March 24, 2021. 590,450 of the candidates were boys representing (50.07%) while 588,742 were girls representing (49.93%).

    On his part, former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale was forced to congratulate the country’s best performing student Faith Mumo, after netizens noted that he had not congratulated any of his children for the KCPE 2020 examinations.

    “Due to public demand, I take this early opportunity to congratulate our 2020 KCPE graduates for making their teachers and parents proud. I wish all of you a great future,” Khalwale said.

    The politician has had at least one child sitting for the National exams from 2016 to 2019.

    In 2016, the senator celebrated his son Engine Khalwale after he scored 400 marks in the final primary school exam. 

    In 2017, he publicly congratulated his daughter and son for scoring 407 and 406 marks in KCPE.

    In 2018, Khalwale celebrated his daughter Olivia Sabayi for excellent performance while in 2019, he congratulated his daughter Gift Atubukha Khalwale for getting 396 marks.

    In 2014, his daughter, Linda Khalwale, who was among the top candidates with 428 marks in KCPE.

    2020’s KCPE examination was done in a unique manner bearing in mind that the world was facing the Covid-19 pandemic and Kenya’s school calendar was destructed.

    Education CS George Magoha congratulated the candidates, noting that the 2020 candidates had recorded an improvement compared to their fellows in 2019.
