Joho was addressing a delegation of leaders and members of the public who attended the Building Bridges Initiatives event at Gusii Stadium on Friday, January 10, 2020.
The ODM leader hit out at the DP and his camp over alleged attacks they have directed at the BBI taskforce.
“There are people ranting a lot. There is one particular person ranting a lot. I hear today he has said they don’t understand why we visit Kenyans to discuss the BBI yet they are not opposing it,” Joho stated.
He alleged that DP Ruto and his team were out to scuttle efforts to achieve inclusivity which is professed by the report and humiliate the process of its implementation.
“I know for a fact William Ruto and his people have schemed to try and embarrass the process of Building Bridges Initiative,” Joho claimed.
The Mombasa governor challenged Ruto’s camp to refrain from unnecessary banter and boldly proclaim their stand on BBI.
Joho warned that the faction supporting the report was willing to go head to head with the DP and his allies, and would not back down from confrontation.
“My message to them, don’t murmur, come forth as a man. Don’t talk one thing in the morning and differ in the evening,” Joho challenged.
“If it’s banter, we are conversant, if its the ability, we have it, if it’s confrontations we know how to, but let us be truthful,” he added.
Joho shrugged off criticism that the planned countrywide meetings to popularise the report were a waste of money, arguing that if the DP and his camp traversed the country politicking, they were also free to do so also.
“If they have decided to traverse the country, we shall do it too,” Joho stated.
