  • Starehe MP Charles Njagua Kanyi (Jaguar) has come to the rescue of a girl who sustained burn injuries but could not access medical care.

Jaguar ensured that Angel Aoko Momanyi was treated at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) and on Saturday, January 9 hinted at supporting the girl to resume her education.

Angel’s mother had struggled to pay for treatment of her daughter who got burned a while ago, incurring injuries on her left hand, stomach and back.

Details of how the incident unfolded were kept under wraps, with the girl’s health treated as top priority.

“I visited baby Angel Aoko Momanyi at KNH. She resides at Mukuru Kayaba, Kambi Moto in Landimawe Ward Leaders from the area requested my intervention.

“I contacted the facility that promptly admitted her, dressed the wound and gave her a blood transfusion followed by a successful skin grafting surgery,” Jaguar said.

He added that Angel was recuperating at the hospital and would be discharged in mid-January 2021.

“I would like to thank the leaders of Mukuru Kayaba for bringing to my attention the case of baby Angel and the KNH fraternity for the treatment they have given her,” the Jubilee MP added.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, while speaking in Mombasa County on Saturday, October 31, 2020, said that the government would ensure every Kenyan has the right to the highest attainable standard of health, and the right to health care services, including emergency medical treatment.

The head of state unveiled the Universal Health Coverage in 2017 as part of the Big 4 Agenda to achieve his goal.

“I want to ensure all Kenyan residents have access to the essential health services they need for their health and well-being; and at affordable price.

“The underlying reason for prioritizing health care provision is the recognition of the fact that without improved standards of health, our quest for prosperity and a better life for our people would remain hollow. A healthy population means, other things being equal, higher productivity,” he said.

In Nairobi, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services which took over health services in the county disclosed that it had built 24 new hospitals to provide better healthcare to area residents.
