  • The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) unveiled a process through which all motorists in the country can obtain an inspection report through booking.

    The process requires all motorists in the country to first complete an online booking for their cars through a detailed procedure on NTSA website.

    To get your report, you are required to go through five mandatory steps on the NTSA portal. Kenyans.co.ke takes you these easy steps:

    How To Do IT

    According to NTSA, a motorist will have to first visit the website at ntsa(do)go(ke) – after which he/she will be required to follow the following steps;

    -Go to Motor vehicle inspection service tab.
    -Go to vehicle inspection

    After booking, one is required to identify the type of inspection which is annual. After selecting the duration, tick the right vehicle to book for inspection.

    You will therefore be required to go to the inspection booking menu then select the preferred centre and convenient date.

    After undergoing the inspection process, you can download the report from your own account.

    Inspection fee according to the transport body is not standardised due to engine capacities. Motorists who own cars with engines over 3000cc are entitled to pay Ksh3,900 and trucks with less than five tones pay Ksh2,000.

    Private cars with less than 3000cc engine capacity are required to pay between Ksh2,000 and Ksh3,500.

    The inspection fee had earlier been standardised at Ksh1,000 regardless of a motor vehicle.

    The online inspection process came into force after the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta on June 22, assented to the Traffic Amendment Bill, 2021 to streamline traffic laws.

    Inspection in the country happens when one needs to make a deed of transfer to a second or third party.

    The technology was employed to ensure only road-worthy vehicles operate on the Kenyan roads to tame a wave of road carnage that has been witnessed n the recent past.
