During an interview on a local TV station on Monday, January 24, Duale stated that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) had to be creative when persuading Amani National Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula to join their team
The former Majority leader noted that the OKA principals had many suitors stating that the President was leading the Azimio team in seeking the support of the principals.
Duale stated that, unlike Uhuru, they were more persuasive in their approach, adding that the Head of State and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga were authoritative in their persuasions.
“Wetangula, Musalia na Kalonzo have been courted by so many people. They were first approached by Azimio and it is no secret that Uhuru met them in the morning and evening telling them that they must isolate the Deputy President and support Raila,â€
“They worked very hard to persuade them but we also did not sleep. We have also courted them. The only difference between ours and that of Uhuru and Raila is that ours did not have arrogance and chest-thumping,†he stated.
Additionally, Duale asserted that all the OKA principals had worked with Raila and had shown disinterest in a new partnership with the ODM leader.
“He (Uhuru) did not know one thing. The three have worked with Raila for 10 years and they know him very well more than Ruto and Uhuru,†he stated.
The seasoned legislator further revealed that they were working around the clock to persuade Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to join their newly formed alliance.
He noted that talks were still ongoing adding that they would not give up until the former Vice President partners with the UDA brigade. However, he stated that they would continue keeping the discussions low-key and surprise Kenyans just as they did with Mudavadi.
“The only one remaining for us is Kalonzo and we cannot get tired of courting. His maybe tomorrow or the day to follow. We are still courting him.
“You will have to wait for another earthquake. Even for Musalia we only told you to wait for an earthquake,†Duale stated.
