How Hon Nixon Korrir is messing up Jubilee campaigns in Kibra, Ruto to cry

There is more to the violence Jubilee experienced in Kibra on Saturday than what meets the eye. I appreciate the fact that I support Dr. William Ruto and by extension Mariga, but that doesn’t stop me from telling the truth as it is. I speak with authority on this as a person who sacrificed time and resources for 7 days meeting the people and collecting Intel in Kibra.

There is a very sacred principle in such a democratic society as Kenya that goes; “NOTHING FOR US WITHOUT US.” The truth of the matter is that Kibra has warmed for Mariga but the people feel secluded. Mariga’s campaign team is being run by the wrong people. Individuals without the slightest clue of the political demographics and terrain of Kibra.

How do you expect Mariga’s posters to remain intact when they are being put by people from Lang’ata? I will quote verbatim “Kuna vijana ya Nixon Korir tungekata na panga hapa juzi wakiweka posters. Hiyo ni madharau gani? Kwani hakuna vijana wa hiyo kazi hapa?” What has Nixon Korir got to do with Kibra?

I have always said and I’ll remain consistent that should we lose in Kibra, the blame should squarely fall on Nixon Korir. He is running the entire show yet so clueless and incompetent. What clout and influence does he have when he survived by a whisker in Lang’ata? I remember we exchanged bitterly with him during Kibra Jubilee nominations. He stated clearly that Jubilee will lose bitterly and shouldn’t bother fielding a candidate. I wonder what has become of him that he strongly believes in Jubilee winning and leading the campaign team.

If Jubilee is to win in Kibra, the victory process must be devolved to the locals. We can’t afford to reduce Kibra people into just voting machines and expect to win. Don’t come with tens of V8 cars filled with slay kings and slay queens in the name of campaigners and expect to appeal to the people. Kibra ina wenyewe na basi tafuteni hao wenyewe. The violence you faced yesterday doesn’t mean ODM is popular but a message that Kibra is not interested in your opulence. Come to the people; listen to the people; walk with the people; identify with the people. Zama grao na muache vipindi.
