Speaking to journalists from Kitale Hospital where she is currently recuperating, Chemutai stated that she had gone to the county in search of her sister’s birth certificate.
Unfortunately, she was not able to get it in good time, prompting her to book a room in one of the hotels.
As she was going to her room, Muyundo stopped her and asked for her number, to which she obliged.
“He insisted that he wanted my contacts. As I was going to my room, he kept calling me. So I asked the caretaker to accompany me outside the gate where he was.
“He asked who between us was Chemutai and when I said that it was me, he bribed the caretaker with Ksh1,000 and told her to go which she agreed, leaving me alone with him,” she stated.
At this time, they were both in the car and it is at this point that Chemutai was shot, prompting her to scream for help.
“He got his phone from his pocket and said that he had my photo and had been looking for me. I was so scared,” she narrated.
Police officers came to her aid and rushed her to the hospital.
A police report recorded at Kiminini Police Station, under OB 26/8/7/2021, however, indicates something different.
The report stated that the woman had allegedly pestered the businessman with multiple calls to meet, which made him suspect she was Kangogo.
Kangogo is a police officer who has made headlines since Sunday, July 4, after she allegedly shot dead an officer in Nakuru County and a day later when is reportedly killed yet another man in Juja, Kiambu County.
She has been on the run and police are yet to arrest her.
