The intensified enforcement measures will be an effort to limit the communal spread of Covid-19 that has so far seen a total of 246 positive cases.
Nairobi is the hotspot for cases in the country and a number of residents have been found flaunting government directives.

Speaking at Harambee House on Friday, April 17, Matiang’i noted that the Government is stepping up its efforts to mitigate the spread of the deadly virus.
“Let me also say, especially in certain estates in Nairobi, from tonight, we are going to turn up the heat. Because from the reporting of positive cases today, you can tell the clustered estates which are giving us problems and estates which are likely to be hotspots shortly.
“All of them have got one characteristic: recklessness and disobedience to the guidelines that have been given by the Ministry of Health.”
Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government has already mapped out key areas where the Ministry of Health guidelines are not being followed.
The worrying trend in the spread of the virus is that the persons who have tested positive recently contracted it through community spread.
On Friday, April 17, GSU contingents were deployed to Eastleigh with businesses in the area shut down indefinitely as a primary measure in taming the spread of Covid-19 in the area.
Matiang’i also thanked Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) after receiving a donation of 10,000 cotton face masks to be used by the National Police Service.
“I want to thank KAM; you have actually gone beyond everyone’s expectations. You have brought all of us together in what we are doing, and I want to assure you that we will remain faithful as worthwhile partners as we go along.”
The move comes after a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer and a city magistrate were among over 30 people arrested partying past curfew hours in Embakasi, Nairobi On Friday, April 10.
A day later Embakasi Central Member of Parliament Benjamin Mwangi was arrested along 18 others while drinking at a pub in Ruai.
