Govt Officials Undertake Specialised Paramilitary Training

-

  • Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kithure Kindiki, on Friday, November 25, presided over a pass-out ceremony for National Government Officers at Embakasi Garrison.

Kindiki revealed that the government trained several officers to support the Kenya Defence Forces and the National Police Service.

“Our national security architecture mandates NGAO to coordinate security agencies to ensure security of the people and their property,” Kindiki assured.

The trained government officials will support police work by suggesting solutions towards inter-communal conflicts, disaster response coordination, and the war on illicit brews and drugs.

They will also coordinate inter-governmental relations, small arms and light weapons response capacity, ensure border security and critical infrastructure, and collect intelligence on terrorism and violent extremism activities.

“NGAO officers will counter organised criminal gangs, assist in registration of persons, civil registration matters and Human Resources Management,” Kindiki announced.

Trained officers will also interpret and disseminate government policies to the members of the public.

“Kenya’s 2010 Constitution establishes the two levels of Government which are distinct and interdependent.

“The National Government Administration plays a critical interface between the two levels of government (National and County Governments).

“Government entrusts NGAOs with the cardinal duty of managing and promoting the image and reputation of the National Government in their respective areas of jurisdiction,” CS Kindiki warned.

The Cabinet Secretary noted that the role of disseminating Government policies renders the views and actions of NGAOs as reflective of the entire government and the Presidency.

“I wish to therefore appeal to you that as you go back to your workstations, you need to embark on a sustained drive to mainstream a culture of integrity and civic responsibility,” Kindiki warned the officials.

Kindiki asked the officers to take serious action against bandits who shot in the air while he was addressing residents in Kitui County.

Other specialised units, he stated, are being formed to eradicate banditry completely.
