Speaking to kenyagist.com, Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Naipeny stated a Nissan Juke, driven by a man he identified as Rashid Ali (40), heading to Nairobi from Mombasa caused the mishap.
”This Nissan was carrying a family, but the driver miscalculated the overtake and now you can see, the damage,” he reported.
The move resulted in a head-on collision with a Scania trailer that was driven by Mohammed Omondi, 43, headed in the opposite direction- from Nairobi to Mombasa.
”At 8 am this morning two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision, we have two dead children, who were killed on the spot and the rest are now in hospital.”
The two children, he indicated, were minors aged 11 and 9 years.
The five injured passengers who were injured were rushed to Kilome Nursing Home and the bodies of the children were taken to the mortuary of the same hospital.
On December 11, 2019 , two people were killed and another seriously injured after two lorries collided at the Emali-Loitoktok junction along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.
