  •  A Form 2 student is among three suspects arrested by police over a string of mugging victims along the Southern Bypass.

The police also recovered 102 phones in a Kibra workshop in a crackdown to flush out thugs who rob off residents on the highway.

According to Langata Sub-County Police commander Benjamin Mwanthi, detectives traced a victim’s phone to one of the suspects.

The victim was attacked by the thugs on the bypass on May 14.

Three other suspects were arrested in Hadi Area. Police recovered 10 phones, an Ipad and 5 national identity cards.

Police asked motorists to be vigilant and report any incidences.

Southern Bypass has been on the spot over increased cases of insecurity, with road users reporting incidences of robbery with violence.

“I got robbed at gun-point along the Southern Bypass at 11 am. Three men came from nowhere trying to break the windows of the car with stones.

“I was so scared I opened the window and they took everything,†a motorist intimated to kenyagist.com

Victims who had been mugged were directed to avail themselves in the police station to identify the suspects.

The police have since incorporated K9 police dogs in the tracing wanted suspects.

Among them, Brian Mwangi  and Nickson Muchiri were arrested in a well executed operation by Langata-based police officers.

Police disguised as joggers shot dead two suspects who attempted to steal from them on June 3. They opened fire killing two on the spot while one escaped with bullet wounds.

The three were suspected to have mugged a motorist who had a mechanical problem along the road, making away with money and other valuables.
