Property of unknown value was destroyed at the entertainment joint which is run by Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA), a state corporation.
In a statement, the organisation confirmed the incident stating that investigations into the cause of the fire were ongoing.

“This is notify you that the resort is on fire. The fire is suspected to have started from an electrical surge in the kitchen. Investigations are ongoing,” TARDA stated.
Nobody was hurt in the fire incident as emergency agencies responded to the incident.
Masinga Dam Resort is located adjacent to the Masinga reservoir in Machakos District located approximately 160km from Nairobi.
It is situated is on the shores of Masinga Dam and is within the vicinity of Mwea Game Reserve.

Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA), covers Machakos, Tana River, Meru, Makueni, Kajiado, Kiambu and Kitui Counties.
The Masinga Reservoir was developed and commissioned by TARDA in 1981, are a multipurpose man-made lake meant for irrigation, electricity generation and tourism development.
