Daily Nation was first to report on Saturday, April 11, that the son, a form two student, had gone after three ducks that were in the dam.
Area Ward Representative Stanley Karanja informed that the father had rushed to the dam after he heard cries from the eight-foot water reservoir.

“When he saw his son gasping, he jumped into the dam but was not as lucky,” Karanja stated.
He revealed that area residents successfully managed to rescue the boy from drowning after which they rushed him to the Naivasha Sub-county hospital.
“He was treated and discharged. Efforts to save his father were unsuccessful,” Karanja informed.
The Member of Nakuru County assembly revealed that the man had died only a day after he had successfully purchased the family property.
The deceased’s body was taken to Naivasha Sub-county hospital morgue.
His sudden demise comes at a time when the country is in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic, with the government issuing directives to tame the spread of the virus.
In a bid to enforce social distancing, and avoid congregations, counties have since moved to call for hastened funeral and burial proceedings advising that they are carried out within 48 hours.
A similar incident occurred in Naivasha on January 16, 2020, when a police officer drowned in a pool of water at Ol Karia. The officer was said to be on medication prior to his death.
The deceased’s body had been found at the pool by his colleagues who rushed him to a local hospital where he was confirmed dead.
