Exclusive: Ngirici, Kibicho Bury Hatchet as Waiguru Panics

Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho and Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici in Kirinyaga on Friday, September 10, 2021
  • Interior Principal Secretary, Karanja Kibicho and Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici have agreed to bury the hatchet, much to the chagrin of Governor Ann Waiguru.

kenyagist.com on Friday, September 10, learnt that the Woman Rep and PS Kibicho resolved to bury the hatchet and work together as Kirinyaga prepares to host Mashujaa Day.

The two ironed out their issues and resolved to focus on the upcoming national event, which will be held in the county on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.

According to Ngirici’s communications official Justin Kinyua, PS Kibicho revealed that he will not be vying for any elective position in 2022.

The revelation now allays initial fears that the PS was going to muddy the waters and further complicate the race by vying for the gubernatorial seat being sought by Ngirici and Governor Anne Waiguru.

Ngirici’s camp stated that PS saw the number of people who turned out at the Kandogu event and expressed his respect for Ngirici’s husband, Andrew who has been actively mobilizing and campaigning for his wife.

The PS also hinted at endorsing Ngirici candidacy in the coming days. The Kirinyaga Woman Rep will vie on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.

Ngirici challenged Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru to decamp from Jubilee Party and join UDA and face her in a free and fair nomination for the party’s ticket.

The meeting between PS Kibicho and Ngirici has thrown Governor Waiguru in panic, forcing her post a screengrab picture of the two sharing light moments during a meeting in Kandogu.

In a post, Waiguru spitefully questioned why the two leaders were meeting while there is unrest in Laikipia County where several people have lost their lives and property.

“Precisely!!! Mt Kenya News. Shouldn’t the priority be saving our people in Laikipia instead of early campaigns?” Governor Waiguru posed.

In 2020, Waiguru accused the Interior Principal Secretary of meddling in the county affairs and working behind the scenes to make her unpopular with the voters.

Waiguru alleged that Kibicho was the primary catalyst in the destructive politics between her and the MCAs that almost collapsed operations in the county.

But in politics there are no permanent enemies, in March 2021, Waiguru and Kibicho resolved to put aside their political differences and work together to ensure the proposed constitutional changes contained in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) were passed at the referendum.

Fast forward to September 4, 2021, Waiguur accused the State of persecution, following her disinterest in the revival of the BBI and her stand in regard to President Uhuru’s preferred presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.

After the BBI flopped at the Court of Appeal, Waiguru led a group of Mt Kenya leaders in backtracking on their earlier endorsement of ODM leader, Raila Odinga’s bid for the presidency and urged supporters of BBI to move on.

Through a detailed post shared on her social media account, Waiguru stated that EACC has been raiding her offices and reviving past cases to force her to dance to Deep State’s tune in as far as 2022 polls are concerned.
