Former colleagues of the Kilimani Dynasties actress took to social media on Monday, December 21, 2020, to mourn the untimely demise of their friend.
“It is yet another very sad day for the Creative Industry. We have lost another Actor Monix Chege of The Kalimani Dynasty Series of KTN Home. Sina usemi mimi ila nashukuru nilipata kumjua. Let’s pray for her soul to rest in peace and for her children. May God Comfort us all,” Actress Stephanie Maseki mourned.
“Another soul has departed. This is beyond sad. Just the other day you updated the world and now you are no more,†her friend Wambui Wanjiru mourned the late actress.
Leading up to her demise, the former actress constantly updated her fans on her health condition, urging members of the public to pray for her speedy recovery.
On December 6, 2020, Monix took to her Facebook page to inform Kenyans that she had been admitted to hospital.
“Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will still sing of Your praises my God. And when I feel like losing faith and roll in a ball of despair crying, I will choose to be still and know that You still are GOD!
“Don’t call me peeps, my tear glands are like masinga dam waiting to erupt. Send me love and wellness and healing,” she posted then, along with photos of her on oxygen support.
Monix had revealed that she had a lung problem and had constantly been on oxygen support.
She constantly got in touch with her fans, appreciating them for the warm messages and visits she enjoyed while in hospital.
“From the bottom of my heart grateful for all your love and messages. You have no idea how much hope you have given me. Like an avalanche of hope, love and healing. May God see you through too,
“Be grateful for your lungs. Those two little ninjas that you have never seen keep you animated and alive. Be extremely grateful for every breath you can take without external help. My two little ninjas aren’t up to the task so am on oxygen support. Meanwhile, I will have a meeting with my two ninja lungs and we shall have an agreement that they shall style up. Dry bones shall live again! Amen!” Monix updated on December 7, 2020.
On December 9, she revealed that she had undertaken a Covid-19 test out of which results came back negative.
Owing to her lung condition, the late actress spent most of her last days in the hospital and in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Monix leaves behind two children and a husband.
