  • Deputy President William Ruto on Sunday, September 6, responded to fiery remarks made by Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko, asking the CS to be humble.

Ruto was speaking at the Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Athi River, Machakos County, where he had attended a prayer service.

The Deputy President called upon Cabinet Secretaries not to engage in insults and instead focus on delivering President Uhuru Kenyatta’s development agenda.

“I ask that we all unite and deliver the manifesto we gave Kenyans, on Big Four agenda; food security, housing, job creation and universal health coverage.

“I ask leaders who have an opportunity to serve in various government departments not to be proud, and stop spitting insults for us to achieve Uhuru’s development agenda,” he noted.

Tobiko on Friday, September 4, labelled Ruto a clerk in response a tweet by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen in which the legislator referred to Tobiko as a mere clerk, who needed to respect the President.

The CS who spoke during an event at Loita Forest in Kajiado accused Ruto and his allies of disrespecting the Head of State.

“The deputy president should be the clerk of the president, and the way I respect the President as his clerk, even the deputy president and Murkomen should respect the President.

“He (Murkomen) is out here insulting President Uhuru Kenyatta and other leaders. He should respect the President. If you don’t respect the president of the Republic of Kenya, you do not deserve to be respected by anyone,” stated Tobiko.
