  • The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has launched a probe into the legal ownership of a Ksh150 million parcel of land in Umoja, Nairobi.

The investigation by the DCI was prompted by allegations that police officers were acting on fake documents to facilitate another businessman to start developing the land.

Businessman Peter Muhia had written to Nairobi DCI Boss Bernard Nyakwaka accusing some police officers of shielding cartels who are aiming to grab his land.

Ć¢ā‚¬Å“From the above-mentioned date, no investigations and or actions have been undertaken on the same to investigate and arrest the trespassers who have no justifiable legal claim over the parcel. Our client would like to urgently reclaim their property for personal use,Ć¢ā‚¬ Muhia’s lawyer wrote to the DCI.

The DCI is also probing possible forgery in the same case after the documents presented by the officers were disowned by the acting Director of Survey Polly Gitimu.

Ć¢ā‚¬Å“This is to bring to your attention that Nairobi block 166 and Nairobi block 107/1/1118-1134 RIM purportedly procured from Survey of Kenya do not exist in our records and are fictitious and fraudulent,” Gatimu had written to the Chief Land Registrar.

Muhia and his lawyer, Melba Katindi urged the DCI to probe the documents demanding action if they be established as fraudulent.

Ć¢ā‚¬Å“My efforts to seek justice from the police have been met with deaf ears. I am told some local administrator allowed them to go to the site and is providing security for them to continue with illegal activities,Ć¢ā‚¬ Muhia stated.

The incident comes in the midst of previous reports of officers working with land cartels largely in Nairobi and its environs.
