Activist Boniface Mwangi took to social media pages to deliver the good news and congratulate the couple who are his friends.
He revealed that they had used a total of Ksh60,000 for the wedding and encouraged the youth not to be extravagant while planning their big day.
“Dated 6 years. Got married today. Civil marriage, lunch with family and close friends, total cost Ksh 60,000. Get married for you. Stop the peer pressure of expensive weddings. Do you. Love the one you choose!
“Congratulations to the newest couple in town Esther Kazungu and Kibunja. Two awesome human beings and I’m so happy they found each other. I wish them marital bliss,” Mwangi stated.
Kazungu is famous for her online hilarious skits, specifically about the South African parliament dramas while Kibunja is an event MC.
In May 2021, the comedian was engaged to her partner at a lovely surprise party over the weekend.
Her two friends tricked her into attending a birthday party of one of them, only for her to realise that it was her engagement party.
A crowdsourced survey by content creator Just Ivy in April 2021 revealed that Kenyan couples used a big chunk of their budget on caterers and venue managers.
Some Kenyans narrated that the cake and wedding outfits also took up quite a lot of money, with some vendors hiking prices.
Responding to the survey, some Kenyans noted that they had used up to Ksh1.5 million to organise their weddings.
