Kirubi died on Monday, June 14 after a long battle with cancer.
Speaking during the burial ceremony, Kirubi’s daughter, Mary-Ann, described her father as a tenacious man who brutally fought cancer towards the very end.
She also promised to do her best to continue her father’s legacy.
“ I promise to do my best, and when I am stuck, I will seek those in this gathering who have come to honour you and support me. Your legacy will never be forgotten,†she concluded.
Reverend Teresia Wairimu of the Faith Evangelistic Ministry Church in Karen, revealed that she read to Kirubi his favourite Bible chapter, Psalms 23, shortly before his death at 1 am on Monday, June 14.
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil,
Reverend Teresia read. She further acknowledged Kirubi as a nation shaker and history maker. The deacon stated that the businessman was never afraid of asking for prayer.
“I remember early in the morning, he was going for surgery and he was going to be taken [Sic]. He said, I’ve got to call my pastor we pray before you take me anywhere,†she recalled.
Bishop Allan Kiuna of Jubilee Christian Church eulogized Kirubi as a friend and a humble man, who was at a better place with God.
The service ended at 2:30 pm, and Kirubi was immediately interred, with a lunch scheduled thereafter.
