  • Police officers have arrested a bodaboda rider after he allegedly uploaded a photo of a deceased teenager on her Facebook page.

The deceased died under mysterious circumstances a week ago.

The form four student at Kibera High School in Nairobi County, had embarked on a journey to her rural home in Kakamega County when she met her untimely death.

She was to attend the burial of her mother but never arrived at her home.

Police officers have since established that the teenager boarded John Odinga’s motocycle at Shianda market in Kakamega County.

She, however, did not arrive home and efforts by her family members to trace her did not bare fruits.

The deceased’s father disclosed that she alerted them at around 7pm that she had boarded a motorcycle.

She, however, took longer than usual to arrive at her destination, something that caused panic among her family members.

“We tried to call her when we realised that she was taking longer than usual but her phone was switched off,” Makanga stated.

Efforts to locate her were futile.

On Monday, October 11, her body was discovered floating on River Lusumu by locals who reported the matter at Mumias Police Station.

The family members also noticed that her Facebook page was still active and made an official statement with the police.

The body of the deceased is currently at the Kakamega General and Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
