  • Erias Lukwago, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine’s lawyer was rushed to the Nairobi hospital on Sunday, April 11, for treatment after developing complications.

Lukwago’s deputy Doreen Nyanjura told the media that the lawyer had received medical care in different hospitals in Kampala but his situation worsened.

“Following a recurring dizziness, persistent abdominal discomfort and severe chest pain despite attending several medical facilities in Kampala including Lubaga Hospital, Platinum Hospital, Case Hospital, Norvik Hospital among others, Lukwago was referred to Nairobi Hospital for further management,” Nyanjura stated.

Lukwago doubles up as the Kampala Lord Mayor having retained the seat in January under the Forum for Democratic Change party ticket.

Bobi Wine took to social media to wish the lawyer a quick recovery.

“We are praying for you my brother Erias Lukwago. May the healing hand of the almighty touch you. Get well soon comrade,” Bobi Wine stated.

This is not the first time the lawyer has been rushed to Nairobi hospital for treatment. In November 2020, he was treated for acute anaphylaxis- a condition that causes the immune system to overreact to allergies by releasing chemical which can cause shock in the body. The condition is potentially life-threatening.

Nairobi hospital has in the recent past hosted some of the most powerful individuals, not only in Kenya, but also in Africa.

Among the dignitaries previously admitted at the hospital include: Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga, Former Somalia President Ali Mahdi Muhammad, former president Mwai Kibaki.

Others include Late President Daniel arap Moi, Tanzanian opposition leader Tindu Lissu, Ugandan opposition politician and Dr Kizza Besigy.

The hospital consists of high-security detail with executive and VIP wards located in the South and North Wing.
