On Thursday, Bidco Africa chairman, Vimal Shah, surprised President Uhuru Kenyatta with a priceless Lion sculpture.
President Uhuru was in Ruiru to launch Bidco’s Kh20 billion ultra-modern complex.
After concluding his speech, Uhuru proceeded to his seat where he started chit-chatting with Deputy President William Ruto.
However, he was caught by surprise when an announcer called upon him to receive a gift from Bidco’s tycoon.
“To President Uhuru Kenyatta, Bidco wishes to honour you with a gift. It is the company’s tradition and for you today, it’s an appreciation of making this day a success,” the announcer rallied the president.
The president received his gift amid cheers and applause from the congregation, which included DP Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
He passed it on to his bodyguard who handed it to DP Ruto.
Earlier on, Uhuru had praised the manufacturing company for creating 1000 direct and 5000 indirect jobs with the ultra-modern complex.
“Expansion of our manufacturing sector holds the key to the realization of job creation, particularly for our youth.
“The Bidco Industrial Park will significantly enhance our local manufacturing sector,” Uhuru announced.
