Atwoli Lists Qualifications for Job Seekers to Be Trusted With COTU Money

  • The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (COTU) secretary general, Francis Atwoli, invited job seekers to apply for the position of Assistant Accountant.

    According to the job listing dated Tuesday, December 13, the interested candidates should have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade of C+ and above, among other qualifications.

    “All applications must be addressed to the Secretary-General Shortlisted applicants will be required to meet Chapter Six of the Constitution and consequently required to submit all relevant proof documents,” read the job posting in parts.

    Some other academic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or relevant qualifications and Certified Public Accountants (CPA) part II.

    The candidate should also be computer literate with good working knowledge of Quick books, Sage accounting, Microsoft Excel, and Word.

    On work experience, COTU has sought a jobseeker with proven administration experience or training and a marked ability to prioritize and effectively complete allocated tasks.

    Also, the candidate should have good interpersonal and communication skills, a keen sense of thoroughness, and an eye for detail.

    Duties 

    As the assistant accountant, the successful candidate will be tasked with bookkeeping, reconciliation of accounts and bank accounts, and assisting with the month-end closing and financial statements.

    “You will assist in COTU annual and finance meetings reports, proper and timed filing of all financial data and documentation, as well as ensuring processes are followed per internal working procedures and instructions,” the listing read on.

    All interested applicants were urged to submit their applications before January 15, 2023.

    COTU did not indicate the length of the contract, salary ranges and other benefits such as pension, commissions and access to loans. 

    COTU is tasked with creating, developing, and maintaining all comprehensive social frameworks for championing workers’ rights and advocating for a humane and productive environment.
