  • Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati and his South Mugirango counterpart Sylvanus Osoro on Friday, February 26, reconciled in public weeks after the two legislators were involved in a fistfight.

While delivering his speech at the late Bonchari MP John Oroo Oyioka’s funeral service, Arati admitted that it was wrong for both him and his counterpart to exchange blows at the funeral service of Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi’s father, Abel Gongera.

“As a leader, it was important for me to make peace. I know we made a mistake and we have reconciled,” Arati stated.

The presiding priest congratulated the two for making peace and warned leaders against propagating violence, especially in church.

“As a church, we prayed that the two leaders would reconcile and make peace. I am sincerely grateful and ask the both of you to continue working together,” the priest said.

Osoro stormed the stage after Arati allegedly made disparaging statements against Deputy President William Ruto who was also in attendance during Gongera’s funeral.

He attempted to snatch the microphone from Arati and it is at this point that a fight ensued.

Police were forced to intervene during the commotion in an attempt to calm down the mourners.

During the same event, nominated senator Millicent Omanga was also mishandled after she attempted to snatch Governor James Ongwae’s microphone.

“I will not be pushed around,” Omanga vowed.
