  • Hot 96FM presenter Annitah Raey on Tuesday, November 17, announced that she was leaving the station.

Speaking to kenyagist.com, the media personality confirmed her exit from the Royal Media Service-owned station.

“I resigned last week on Wednesday, November 11,” she briefly disclosed.

Raey explained that her decision to leave stemmed from a toxic work environment at the media station.

“So I resigned, which is the best decision I have made in my 30 years. Toxic bosses are something I need to talk about,” Raey posted on her social media.

Raey, who is a mental health advocate, maintained that radio would hold a special place in her heart.

“I have never ever ranted about my personal life online. I have never ranted about my work either. I am not about to start today, but I have learned to choose myself above any job because if I died today then someone will replace me tomorrow. I choose my sanity,” she noted.

Reay joined Hot 96FM from Radio Jambo where she co-hosted the Hot Drive alongside Patrick Igunza. She later moved to the late-night show ‘The Sizzle On Hot’.

Hours prior to her announcement, Ebru TV anchor Diana Rachel Wairimu quit her job over what she termed as a toxic work environment.

“I am so done dealing with humans who feel like they have you. They are just controlling every move that you make. You cannot even think for yourself. You are treated like a school child. I mean I am almost 32. It is time for me to fly,” the anchor stated.

In June 2020, RMS sent home a number of employees including, Hot 96 FM Presenter Nancy Wanjiku Karanja known to many as Shiks Kapienga, Radio Citizen presenters Syombua Osiany, John Maloba, Himenigilder Mugeni and others.

Kapienga hosted Drop Zone on Hot 96 FM each Monday to Thursday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. while Syombua hosted Pambazuka on Radio Citizen from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m.
