Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa on Tuesday, January 7, resurfaced after a month-long silence that had raised questions on social media over her whereabouts.

According to a video she posted on her Twitter account, the fierce lawmaker lashed out at critics of Deputy President William Ruto during the burial of the late Martha Kirigo, mother to Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua.

In her address, Jumwa challenged the critics to battle Ruto for the country’s top seat, explaining that so far, he was already winning.

“Who is going to compete with you (Ruto)? For now, we are the only candidates on the block. They should hurry up and join the ring.

“In 2022, God willing, William Samoei Ruto will carry the day. When I go back to Malindi, I will tell them that Nyeri is locked inside Ruto’s camp,” stated the legislator amidst cheers from the crowd.

The last time the lawmaker was featured in the news cycle was on Saturday, November 30, when she addressed a controversial post that was castigating President Uhuru Kenyatta for working with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The post, which was shared on a social media account bearing Jumwa’s name on Friday, November 29, appeared to question the president’s intelligence in collaborating with Raila.

The sentiments were expressed in poorly worded grammar, “I wonder why president Uhuru Kenyatta he keeps laughing with the snake that beats him twice [sic].”

The vocal MP disassociated herself with the post, urging her supporters to ignore it as it was not from her official accounts.

Her absence in media raised some eyebrows including those of ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale who, on Monday, January 6, sent a message to her reading, “Happy New Year Aisha Jumwa. It’s been long since I heard from you.”
