  • Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi on Tuesday, October 13 sent auctioneers to Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to recover a Ksh.730,000 debt.

Among the KeNHA properties set to be auctioned are three motor vehicles which include two Toyota Prado, a pickup and an assortment of office furniture.

The lawyer was forced to involve auctioneers after KeNHA dragged in settling the amount owed to him after winning a court battle.

“Following KeNHA’s failure to honour the decree for damages caused to my car’s windscreen, I have sent auctioneers who have proclaimed three motor vehicles to recover the decretal sum…of Kshs 730,000,” said Ahmednasir.

The office furniture that are set to be auctioned include executive office sofa sets, board room chairs, office executive chairs, desks, computers and a file cabinet.

KeNHA was notified that the movable assets were issued with seven to 14 days custody from Wednesday, October 7 after which they will be moved to the auctioneer’s premises and sold by public auction.

A court ruled in lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi‘s favour on Thursday, August 6 after he sued the KeNHA over damage sustained on his Bentley Bentayga back in 2018.

KeNHA, however, appealed a court ruling directing it to pay lawyer Ahmednasir over Ksh.750,000 for damages to after his windscreen was damaged by stones.

The authority argued that Ahmednasir allegedly failed to report the incident to the police along the Nairobi-Namanga highway, of their offices or obtain a police OB number.

Ahmednasir was driving back to Nairobi from Arusha, Tanzania when his windshield was allegedly damaged by ballast while KeNHA were recarpeting the Nairobi-Namanga Highway.

The lawyer was awarded the amount as special damages that he incurred during repairs and labor resulting from the incident.

According to the Kenya Revenue Authority the Bentley will cost you from Ksh30 Million to Ksh51 million.
