3-Year-Old Baby Dies as 280 Test Positive

  • A total of 280 individuals tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 4,919 tested in the last 24 hours.

    This takes Kenya’s cumulative confirmed positive cases to 104,780.

    In a statement on Tuesday, February 24, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe disclosed that the total tests conducted so far are 1,278,200.

    From the positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours, 221 are Kenyans while 59 are foreigners. 108 are males while 86 are females.

    The youngest victim is a three-year-old child, while the oldest is 89 years.

    713 patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours. Total recoveries now stand at 86,378.

    Sadly, 2 patients have succumbed to the disease pushing our cumulative fatality to 1,839.

    There are 344 patients currently admitted to various health facilities countrywide, while 1,495 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

    55 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 22 of whom are on ventilator support and 28 on supplemental oxygen.

    5 patients are on observation. Another 9 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with all of them in the general wards. 

    No patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

    In terms of County distribution; Nairobi 185, Nakuru 19, Kiambu 19,

    Kericho 12, Mombasa 6, Kajiado 6, Murang’a 6, Uasin Gishu 6, Machakos 5, Meru 4, Embu 3, Bungoma 1, Busia 1, Garissa 1, Kirinyaga 1, Kisii 1, Kwale 1, Makueni 1, Nyandarua 1 and Taita Taveta 1.

    In terms of Sub County distribution; the 185 cases in Nairobi are from

    Lang’ata (45), Westlands (34), Dagoretti North (21), Kamukunji (11), Kasarani (10) Embakasi East and Kibra (9) cases each, Starehe (8),

    Embakasi Central and Ruaraka (7) cases each, Roysambu and Makadara

    (5) cases each, Dagoretti South (4), Embakasi South, Embakasi West and Mathare (3) cases each, Embakasi North (1).

    In Nakuru the 19 cases are from Nakuru East (8), Nakuru West and Njoro (3) cases each, Subukia (2), Gilgil, Naivasha and Rongai (1) case each. In Kiambu the 19 cases are from Kiambaa (7), Kiambu Town (4), Kabete and Thika (2) cases each, Gatundu North, Juja, Limuru and Ruiru

    (1) case each. In Kericho all the 12 cases are from Ainamoi.

    In Mombasa the 6 cases are from Mvita (2), Changamwe, Jomvu, Kisauni and Likoni (1) case each. In Kajiado the 6 cases are from Kajiado North (3), Kajiado East (2) and Kajiado Central (1).

    In Murang’a the 6 cases are from Kiharu (4), Kandara and Maragua (1) case each. In Uasin Gishu the 6 cases are from Ainabkoi (4) and Turbo (2). In Machakos the 5 cases are from Athi River (3), Machakos Town and Masinga (1) case each. In Meru the 4 cases are from Imenti North (2), Buuri and Imenti Central (1) case each. In Embu all the 3 cases are from Manyatta.

    The case in Bungoma is from Kanduyi, the case in Busia is from Matayos, the case in Garissa is from  Garissa Town, the case in Kirinyaga is from Kirinyaga Central, the case in Kisii is from Kitutu Chache South, thë case in Kwale is from Msambweni, the case in Makueni is from Makueni, the case in Nyandarua is from 01 Kalou and the case in Taita Taveta is from Voi.
