21 Covid-19 Deaths Recorded as 247 in ICU

  • In the last 24 hours, 1,030 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19, out of a sample size of 8,316. The country’s positivity rate now stands at 12.4%.

    The total number of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases now stands at 145,184, while the cumulative tests conducted so far are 1,557,704.

    Of the cases announced today, 995 are Kenyans while 35 are foreigners. 532 are male and 498 are females. The youngest is a 10-month-old infant day while the oldest is 99 years old.

    Sadly, 21 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours. This pushes the cumulative number of fatalities to 2,330.

    422 patients have recovered from the disease, 317 are from home-based and isolation care, while 105 are from various health facilities. The total recoveries now stand at 98,605.

    A total of 1,616 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 4,243 patients are on Home Based Isolation and Care, 247 patients are in the Intensive care Unit (ICU).

    As of Friday, April 9, the Ministry of Health reported a total of 422,021 people had been vaccinated with the Astrazeneca vaccine, with 110,523 being Health Workers, 34,150 security officers, 59,906 teachers.

    217,442 members of the public were also recorded, including those at 58 years and above. More men had been vaccinated then women with a total of 238,522 (56.5%) while 183,499 (43.5%) females have so far received the jab.

    “Vaccines work with your immune system so your body will be ready to fight the virus if you are exposed. This can reduce your risk of developing COVID-19 and make your symptoms milder if you do get it,” stated Kagwe.
