15 Die as Kenya Breaks Daily Cases Record

  • Kenya has recorded 1,395 more Covid-19 positive cases in the last 24 hours, as the country’s total caseload rises to 55,192. The caseload today is higher than yesterday’s 1,185 cases which was a record.

    In a statement to newsrooms  on Saturday, October 31, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that 7,635 samples had been tested over the period bringing the cumulative tests are to 695,087.

    He disclosed that the youngest case is a four-month old infant while the oldest is aged 94.

    From the cases, 1,337 are Kenyans and 58 are foreigners. In terms of gender 879 are males and 516 females 

    1,087 patients were discharged, 1,019 from the home-based care program, and 68 from the hospital around the country. Total recoveries now stand at 36,963.

    Unfortunately, 15 patients have succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of fatalities to 996.

    Currently, there are 1,241 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide while 4,495 are on home based isolation and care.

    55 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 32 of whom are in ventilatory support and 23 on supplementary oxygen.

    At the same time, 45 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen but not in the ICU, while 11 are in the High Dependecy Unit (HDU).

    The distribution of cases in counties is as follows; Nairobi 569, Nakuru 149, Kiambu 148, Mombasa 147, Uasin Gishu 60, Kilifi 41, Kericho 30, Laikipia 27, Machakos 26, Kajiado 25, Kisumu 19, Meru 18, Kakamega 15, Busia 14, Bungoma 13, Samburu 12, Nyeri 11, Siaya 10, Tharaka Nithi 9, Kisii 7, Bomet 6, Murang’a 6, Taita Taveta 6, Homabay 4, Kwale 4, Elegeyo Marakwet 3, Nandi 3, Embu 2, Baringo 2, Nyamira 2, Wajir 2 while Migori, Nyandarua, Trans Nzoia, Narok and Kirinyaga recorded a case each.

    The 569 cases in Nairobi were recorded from; Lang’ata 239, Westlands 50, Kibra 39, Dagoretti North 33, Makadara 31, Embakasi West 29, Kasarani 28, Kamukunji 23, Embakasi East 20, Dagoretti South 19, Roysambu 16, Starehe 15, Mathare 9, Embakasi North and Ruaraka 6 cases each, Embakasi Central 5 and Embakasi South 1.
