  • Garissa Member of Parliament Hon. Aden Duale has asked the Jubilee Party leadership led by President Uhuru Kenyatta to pay Ksh6 million owed to The Independent Party(Tip Tip) leader – the late Kalembe Ndile.

While addressing parliament on Friday, June 8, the legislator stated that Jubilee is obligated to pay the amount as it won the elections and formed a government.

Tip Tip was among fourteen political parties that merged to form Jubilee.

“Hon. Kalembe kept asking for 6 million for folding his party,â€

Duale stated that Jubilee Party Majority Leader Amos Kimunya and the Party Whip Emmanuel Wangwe to pick the debt note and make sure they delivered the Ksh6 million.

The two visited Kalembe Ndile’s family on Friday, June 8.

Kalembe passed away on May 30 and will be buried in his Mbui Nzau home, Makueni County.

The former majority leader passed condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of his constituents.

Duale’s call was contested by Minority Leader John Mbadi who differed with the idea of involving Kenyans in a political negotiation by political parties.

“Is he in order to imply that Kenyan taxpayers’ money should be used to settle debts that are owed by political parties or friends of political parties?†Mbadi questioned.

Mbadi likened the notion to bribing as he argued that his party had merged and disintegrated severally and had not witnessed such.

In June 2019, National Super Alliance (NASA) affiliate parties threatened to leave the party demanding  their share of Ksh4.1 billion awarded to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) by the Political Parties Fund.

The aggrieved parties stated that the money belonged to NASA and the money must go to all affiliate parties.
