  • NTV news anchor Frederick Muitiriri recounted the sufferings he went through after undergoing two surgeries that left him bedridden.

Speaking on Sunday, February 12, during an interview with NTV’s Crossover show host Susan Grace, Mutiriri revealed that it took effort and love from his wife Anne Muitiriri to see him through the recovery process.

The former Inooro TV presenter narrated how he never wanted to have visitors checking on him during that period as he was not proud of where he had been operated on.

“I never thought we would ever be in that position. I saw love from my wife, she would bring me salty water to sit on and then get rid of it as dirty as it was. This girl used to wash me, sometimes I would be in the toilet and I couldn’t get up from the toilet seat.

She would carry me and wash me after I have gone to the loo. For the first time, I saw someone who never gave up on me. I saw someone who cared for me so deeply. We were barely married for five years and she cared for me deeply,” he revealed.

The Swahili bulletin anchor further stated that marriage was a decision he had made as a young man and swore never to leave his wife at any single point despite the type of challenges they would encounter.

“When we got married I told her that I had decided when I was in class 8 that I will never divorce and we must be happy so that in the end we will never divorce. There is no exit plan,” he added.

His wife described the experience she had with her husband’s sickness as challenging but credited her determination and commitment to the marriage as the reasons why she never abandoned him at the most trying time.

“I am thankful for the vows and for believing strongly. That was the real meaning of ‘in sickness and in health.’ If we had not tried to strengthen that bond, I now understand why people get tired.

“It’s scientifically correct that even if you love someone it reaches a point you get tired but you also have to be there with your mind to move on strong. I would try to make him not feel any smaller. I thank God,” Anne narrated.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Muitiriri was one of the anchors who was fired by Royal Media Services. He revealed that he was fired from the station at a time when his wife was seven months pregnant.

Luckily,  eight days later he got a job with the Red Cross-owned Switch TV.

“I actually applied for that job the day I was laid off. The terms were way better in many aspects; better-paying salary is a state of mind, very challenging and exciting at the same time, fulfilling and my mind was finally at peace,” he noted.

In 2022, he joined TV47 after announcing his departure from Switch TV on Friday, December 31, through a detailed post on his social media.
