On Tuesday, May 26, as per the government requirements on the reopening of eateries, Mwaura subjected six of his employees to Covid-19 tests.
All the six tested negative on Thursday, May 28 but later on in the day results were amended showing two had turned positive with the same previous document altered to read positive using a biro pen.

“The likelihood of the test results not being genuine is heightened by the fact that despite the ladies having been tested on May 26, 2020, the document showing the results is dated May 21, 2020. We are at a loss of what samples were tested.
“It is very unfortunate that the Pathologist Lancet Kenya Ltd could issue two different results on one day over one test. The first results showed negative results, but subsequent results about four hours later showed positive results. It is sad and traumatic for the victims,” explained Muhoho.
Muhoho noted that he had a meeting with the County Director of Health in Nyeri County on Saturday, May 30, together with Mwaura and other health officials of the county.
The health officials tried to exonerate the government stating that Lancet was a private entity but, the lawyer argued that it could not be further from the truth.
According to the lawyer, Lancet was licenced by the government to collect samples and also issue results. The unfortunate results are actually contained in a Government of Kenya letterhead, he argued.
The employees of Spinner Bar and Restaurant have since been subjected to mandatory quarantine on the basis of varying results.
The two women were, who hailed from an informal settlement in Majengo, Nyeri had no history of travel and were asymptomatic.
On Thursday, May 28, Ministry of Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced in his daily briefings that Nyeri had joined the list of affected counties after recording two cases.
