Gifts KDF Gave Uhuru and Wife During Military Farewell Parade

  • The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) honoured President Uhuru Kenyatta and First lady Margaret Kenyatta during his military farewell parade at the Ulinzi Sports Complex on Friday, September 8. 

    From cows to sculptures, the duo received gifts from various units of the Kenya forces – the Kenya Army, Kenya Navy and Kenya Air Force.

    Other groups that gifted the outgoing Head of State and First lady were the retired KDF officials, spouses of KDF soldiers and the Ministry of Defence.

    Uhuru’s military farewell was led by Chief of Defence Force, General Robert Kibochi.

    Uhuru’s Gifts

    The outgoing Commander in Chief was honoured with 12 different bulls and cows. From the KDF, Uhuru received 10 bulls of Pakistan origin that were presented by General Kibochi.

    The others were a Friesian cow from other generals and an expectant Ayrshire cow from the Kenya Army.

    Additionally, the Head of State was gifted with a rare Boer goat and Dorper sheep of South African origin.

    From the retired KDF soldiers, Uhuru received a sculpture of a lion to signify the brave actions of the soldiers in the military in gratitude for the support, Uhuru accorded them. 

    Also, the retiring president was awarded a full golf set from the Ministry of Defence under Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa.

    The First lady, on the other hand, was recognised for her role in championing affordable healthcare services for Kenyans through the Beyond Zero campaign. 

    In recognition of her efforts, she was gifted a portrait of a family to signify her efforts in improving Kenyan lives.

    These presents were offered by spouses of military officers. Additionally, the association gave the outgoing first lady a woven basket.

    From the KDF, she received a sculpture of a woman in appreciation for her role in helping the President run the country for the last 10 years. 

    Just like Uhuru, the Ministry of Defence gave her a full set of golf kits and a sculpture of birds.
