The fire which began in the afternoon affected a number of establishments as it spread to adjacent premises.
Residents rallied to put out the fire and rescue goods that were in danger in the furniture shops.
Dark smoke billowed in the sky and resulted in heavy traffic in the area. Motorists have since been advised to look for alternative routes to avoid the area.

It was not clear yet if there were any casualties from the incident. At the time of publishing this, emergency vehicles were yet to arrive at the scene to contain the fire.
A similar fire incident occurred in August 2019 in the area near Riflo Industries.
